Beat the heat with Attabad Lake

Attabad Lake is considered as the biggest artificial lake of Pakistan. The Lake was formed as a result of disastrous landslide in  Attabad village in 2010 as a result of which twenty locals were killed. (May their souls rest in peace, Ameen). This tragedy gave a beautiful lake to the people of Hunza. Attabad Lake turned out to be a blessing in disguise and now it is a popular summer destination for tourists from all over Pakistan.

July is usually very warm and humid in Islamabad. Last week, we decided to take a family trip to some refreshing natural spot. After a lot of negotiations between the family (You know everybody comes up with a different suggestion and it is difficult to stick to one), we decided to visit Attabad Lake. We did packing for the trip and took help from google map to reach our destination. Attabad Lake is at a distance of one hour from Hunza village.

Before my own trip, I had read about it on google and my books. And I really wanted to visit it. So, it was  like a dream coming true. 😊

I had seen this in google always

It was literally a heaven on earth. It is situated between high mountains. The water is so clear and refection of mountains give a breath taking view. The low lying clouds on the lake add to its beauty. The weather was very pleasant but we had wrapped ourselves with the shawls, we have kept in our luggage.

Goshhhh! Just look at this utterly beautiful and clean water. I guess the purest one. I could not stop but say Masha Allah, Masha Allah!

Reality was more beautiful than the pictures on internet

We kept on staring at the beauty of the lake. We had our cameras with us and took pictures of almost every moment. Boat ride was the most memorable experience. While enjoying the boat ride, we looked at the jaw dropping mountain peaks. Water was very cold and crystal clear. Boating is the one thing you must do on a trip to Attabad Lake.

I guess those algae are more lucky to touch that water every second. (Algae- a biological term)

We can’t thank God enough for wonderful places He has blessed Pakistan with. We need to explore the beauty of our motherland. This Attabad Lake is highly recommended for a family trip in summers.

  5. It's been years since I swam in a lake. I used to live near one as a child but the swans made paddling very difficult!
